Startup Weekend Phoenix Reviews

Startup Weekend is a series of events that bring a roomful of developers and entrepreneurs together to develop new startups in only 54 hours. When the program originally launched last year, each weekend was geared towards building a single application, of which every participating member was a cofounder. Since then the format has changed - multiple companies are created at each event, and they don’t have to incorporate at the end of the weekend.

I had not heard of this program before, not exactly sure how I missed it, but after reading about it, it seems to be a very cool little project.  They go around city by city facilitating brainstorming sessions with web designers and entrepreneurs.  While I’m not terribly impressed by the three ideas that were generated and hashed out at the session, I dont think thats the point here.  The bigger picture is that someone is reaching out to the community (successfully in fact) and bringing people together to create.  That’s a very cool idea.  I think what impresses me the most though is the extremely positive response from the participants in the comments of the article.  Give the article a glance, but definitely read the user comments at the bottom!
